Frustration. As a business owner, you know this feeling. It rears its head when you keep seeing the same recurring issues over and over again.
Do you want to know why most business owners keep experiencing the same frustrations?
Because they think about those frustrations as “problems” that need to be fixed…
Whereas they are not actually problems at all.
They are SYMPTOMS.
And you don’t need me to tell you what happens when you continue to treat the symptoms and not the root causes…
It’s a recipe for a lot of wasted money, effort and energy.
So why do we do it in business?
Why do we erroneously label our frustrations as root problems, and then compound that mistake by searching for quick fixes, easy answers and tactical solutions?
Well mainly because it makes us feel good – because we are “doing something”. Even though that burst of activity rarely solves the real problem, we at least get some sticking plasters and temporary pain relief.
But the truth is, confusing activity with productivity is a major saboteur of business success. Just because you’re sweating doesn’t mean it’s working.
By re-framing how you view frustration, you’ll start recognising patterns that shine light on the root causes – things that need to be fixed AND things that need to be broken in order to get your business working the way you want it to.
Here are the three most fundamental questions to ask to help get clarity on the root causes:
1. What are the possible reasons I am noticing these symptoms?
2. What isn’t happening that, if it did happen, would cause the symptoms to either decline or disappear?
3. What is happening that, if it stopped happening, would cause the symptoms to either decline or disappear?
Listen to what your frustrations are telling you. Let them help you build the business and life you’ve always wanted. And don’t forget – I’m here to help 🙂
Best Wishes
